The Opéra Garnier, also known simply as the Opéra de Paris is one of the landmark monuments of Paris. It was inaugurated in 1875, and designed by the architect Charles Garnier (hence its name). It has been classified as a historical monument since 1923.

The Palais Garnier is a 1,979-seat opera house inaugurated in 1875. It is named in honor of its architect, Charles Garnier, and is considered one of the most notable examples of the beaux-arts architectural style. The place is also famous for its large crystal chandelier, its marble, its gilding, and served as inspiration for the novel “The Phantom of the Opera” by Gaston Leroux.
