    Zur Schlacht restaurant, Sempach
    History
    In the sources, a "bruderhüsli" appears again and again near the chapel, for the first time in 1416. This is where the slaughter brother, appointed by the Lucerne council, lived, who was responsible for managing the slaughtered goods. Sempach residents often held this office. The slaughter brother has always had the right to host the slaughtering festival and the church consecration. In the 19th century, this right was gradually expanded and in 1887 a summer host's license was granted. The brother received his guests in the tenant's house and in a canteen. In 1924, the company switched to year-round operation with wine and food in the restaurant and garden. In 1828, a bowling alley is mentioned and in 1932 the festival hall was rebuilt. This still stands today: the Buureschopf. In 1963, the current building was approved, the brother's house was demolished, and in 1995 the canton sold the guesthouse to Josef & Berta Wey-Meier under building rights. In 2004, Rolf Wey, the fifth generation, took over the business and continued it with modernization, ideas and innovation until the end of 2020. After 140 years in the same family, a major chapter in the history of the "Zur Schlacht" inn comes to an end at the end of 2020.

    Kilian Hecht from Sempach is starting a new chapter at the beginning of 2021 - a new Schlachtbruder is taking over the reins.
