During all the years that I have been walking here, I had never really noticed it, but my walking buddy An did notice that there is a beautiful five-way junction here. In other words: a place where five roads/hiking trails come together. And that also has a historical background that goes together with the entire domain.

In an extensive description of the heritage object and landscape entity "Asdonk, Grote Beek and Kleine Beek", the Inventory of Immovable Heritage writes about all the country houses, redoubts, roads, streams, fens, ponds and historical developments in this area, where the large farm "Klein Asdonk is beautifully situated between grassland and forest, near a five-way junction of unpaved roads." Klein Asdonk is also connected to Groot Asdonk via two avenues. But there is more interesting at this five-way junction, such as the paths and their destinations themselves and the many nature conservation activities. You can see a lot of heathland (the obligatory information signs and bench are there) and a little further on an old pond has recently been transformed into a beautiful pool for amphibians. Many of these ponds were used for the abbey of Averbode.
