The elegant complex of Villa Affaitati, one of the richest and most noble families in Cremona, is a project attributed to the Cremonese architects Francesco Dattaro and his son Giuseppe, active in the city in the 16th century for the Affaitati themselves. The structure is arranged around three courtyards. The first courtyard features a beautiful Italian garden, separated from the surrounding countryside by an iconostasis with a triumphal arch in the centre. The garden leads to the internal courtyard, a superb example of mannerist architecture, with porticoes on two sides. The Serlian arches rest on paired Tuscan columns. Towards the moat we can admire an elegant surmounted portal.
The historic Villa was purchased by the Vialli family in 1938 and since then it has also been known as Vialli Castle. Gianluca Vialli and his brothers all grew up together in the splendid residence, which can also be rented for weddings or large private events.
