Submarino Wilhelm Bauer Tipo XXI (antigo U 2540)

This submarine was an engineering marvel during World War II. However, it was never used and was removed after the war. The submarine served as a test boat in the German Navy for several years.

A visit to the submarine is also a highlight for families with children. Ours were thrilled to see one from the inside. Open daily from March 15th to November 10th, including Sundays and public holidays!

The Wilhelm Bauer submarine is moored as a museum boat sponsored by the Wilhelm Bauer Technology Museum Association in the Old Harbor in Bremerhaven, where the German Maritime Museum is also located. It was originally a Type XXI boat from World War II.
In the entrance area of the Wilhelm Bauer there is information on the history of submarines, the Type XXI series and the U2540.
