The striking red and white building is visible from afar. The "lipstick", as the people called the building, has long since become a symbol of the Swedish city of Gothenburg.
The idea for the building arose in 1983 when the Gothenburg municipality wanted to provide employment and development in the region and the construction company Skanska intended to strengthen its market position as a house builder and property owner. The groundbreaking for the 86 m high colossus with the extraordinary facade took place in 1986. At that time, 90 m long piles had to be driven into the ground due to unfavorable ground conditions in order to ensure a stable foundation. After three years of construction the time had finally come: the building was inaugurated. Its 31,625 m² are now shared by numerous companies' offices and various shops.
