One of the hearts of Ghent beats here. Especially on Sundays during the flower market, the motto here is: see and be seen.

Even if you're not into florals, you should still come for a stroll. In a corner of the kouter you will find a blue kiosk. This monument, which has been converted into an aperitif bar, provides gourmets with a glass of cava, fresh oysters and other culinary delights from 11 a.m.

The originally hexagonal newspaper kiosk has stood at this location since 1885. At that time there were 38 kiosks spread across the city center of Ghent. This kiosk was the only one left and has been living its second life as an open-air bar since 1990.

In the center of the Kouter is a beautiful wrought iron kiosk on a natural stone pedestal. The music kiosk was designed by city architect Adolphe Pauli in 1878. The roof bears the names of 4 famous composers: Mozart, Gretry, Rossini and Auber. You will also find such a beautiful specimen in the Citadel Park.
