De Ketelvest is a street and watercourse in the Belgian city of Ghent. The watercourse forms an artificial connection between the Leie and the Scheldt upstream of the natural confluence. The Ketelvest was dug in the 11th century as a kind of moat and thus forms one of the boundaries around the area now called the Ghent Kuip.

A well-known story is that the water in this canal was so turbulent that it was known as a dangerous waterway, with water that was as swirling as boiling water in a kettle and hence the name. However, the fortified towers on and around the Scheldt were known as "cauldrons" because of their shape with round roofs. The Ketelvest therefore most likely got its name from the now demolished Ketelpoort or Kuipgat that stood on the spot where the Ketelbrug is now found.

There used to be two city gates on the Ketelvest, the Ketelpoort on the road to Kortrijk and the Walpoort on the road to St. Peter's Abbey. The last remains of these double gates on both sides of the Ketelvaart were demolished in 1777-1780 (Ketelpoort). Before the First World War, the foundations of the inner gate were broken out during the construction of a new Walbrug.

The bridges at the city gates over the Ketelvest still exist, these are the Ketelbrug and the Walpoortbrug.
