Tversted is embedded in the Tversted Klitplantage, the oldest dune plantation that is part of North Jutland's state forest area.

It was planted in 1858 and now covers an area of 775 hectares. The plantation is relatively sheltered in the middle of Tannis Bay. The resort of Skiveren is located immediately to the east of the plantation, surrounded by a large nature reserve with mostly state-owned beach and dune areas. There are also beautiful nature reserves to the west of the plantation, in Vesterklit and around Flodbaak, but these are privately owned routes. If you don't pay attention to that...it can get very, very expensive. The Danes are very sensitive to this.

In the south, the plantation is delimited by the connecting road from Hirtshals to Skagen. From here, an asphalt side road (sign: Tversted Søer 2) leads through the western part of the plantation to the largest car park, P 1. There are public toilets here. The plantation can only be reached on foot from the east side: from the campsite in Skiveren, from Tranegård or Skramgårde. Normally you can drive along the beach in front of the planting, but the nearest exits and accesses are in Tannis and Skiveren.

Tversted Plantage has become a real forest over the years, which is not the case for many recent plantations.
