The hardest part of this route is the ascent to Kniepenberg. When you reach the top, it is worth to drive to the lookout tower. You can rest on a small parking lot and then continue to the tower. The view is terrific.

If you drive down the mountain again, the descent is fast.

Those who prefer to avoid motor vehicle traffic and many inclines should better cycle on the other (northern) side of the Elbe, there it is flat everywhere and there is a continuous (Elbe) cycle path that runs far away from motor vehicle roads, mostly even on the Elbe dyke.
