Castle Murten / Morat
The castle dates back to the time of Count Peter II of Savoy (1255). Below the portal from 1516, which was rebuilt several times and dates from 1755 in its present form, there was a cistern that is only marked in the paving today. The large, square tower, the so-called keep or "Luegisland", served Adrian von Bubenberg to monitor what was happening during the battle. While the castle used to be the residence of the sheriffs or was used as a hospital, barracks and prison, it is now the seat of the Oberamt of the Freiburg lake district.

The tower is accessible. Free. The complex itself is very small and pretty. Unfortunately, the view from the top of the tower is limited. An all-round view is unfortunately not possible.
