From the roads in the area, you can see from afar during the day, and also at night when it is lit up, this church and its tower with spire, which rises above the village and the surrounding fields.
It is a spacious, peaceful landscape and one of the reasons why Mélin, together with about 20 others, was declared one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia.
This distinction is also justified because the village is the birthplace of the famous white stone of Gobertange. This is a hamlet of the village, where this stone is found and extracted. This stone is frequently found on the facades of the old houses in the village. The same stone can be found on the church tower, although brick was also used for the construction of the church.
The neo-classical building is undeniably striking because of its tall bell tower, its sturdy tower with its 4 new clock faces (2005).
The surroundings are also attractive with the listed presbytery, the nearby tithe barn, the old cobblestones and the adjacent cemetery. There, along the enclosure wall, you will find a recent original tomb, covered with a carpet of wrought iron leaves.
In the portal: an original and unexpected memorial composition: on small white rectangular stones are listed the names of the fifty or so pastors and vicars who have succeeded each other since 1290.

Inside, you will be impressed by a painting on wood, above the altar, a work by Léon Herbot from 1874, which represents Saint Dominic receiving the rosary from Our Lady.
The beautiful oak sculpted furniture is also remarkable, namely the pulpit.

The neoclassical church of Notre-Dame de la Visitation was built in the second half of the eighteenth century in brick and stone by the architect Jaumotte. A square tower in Gobertange stone, flanked by rounded outbuildings in the same material, dominates the building with its slender polygonal spire.

An enclosed cemetery adjoins the church, near the cense du Seigneur (or farm of the lord, see highlight) or cense Risbais, which reflects a primitive princely complex. The church is decorated with a wealth of 18th-century furniture and there is a Renaissance organ from 1616, listed as a monument in 1724 and formerly in the church of Rupelmonde.
