      Text from the information board:
Groß Lind: "Rossmühle" and feudal park
In 1822, a large number of exotic plants, ferns and trees could be admired in the park of Groß Lind. According to plans by the then famous landscape architect Maximilian Friedrich Weyhe, the owner of Groß Lind, the Krefeld merchant and Mennonite (member of an evangelical free church) Gerhard Schumacher, created a 17,500 square meter landscape park at the beginning of the 19th century. It is one of the oldest and rare landscape gardens in this region.
The Groß Lind estate was originally a medieval Schöffenhof (judge's farm) and existed at a time when jurisdiction was still hereditary. The farm was - like all facilities in this region - surrounded by a system of moats.
Another architectural feature of Groß Lind: To the west of the manor house stands an octagonal round barn from the 18th century. It was initially assumed that the barn was a horse mill or horse-driven mill, i.e. a horse-driven mill. - was used, it is now assumed that it was a former sheep barn, which was also temporarily used as a beet cellar.
A treadle was a rotating device for driving machines using human or animal power.

One of the largest farms in Kehn is the Groß Lind estate, which is also one of the oldest farms there. The owners of Groß Lind were lay judges of the Liedberg court. The old and large residential stable house, the stable part of which faces the courtyard, is still clearly visible today. A classicist facade was placed in front of this old building. The former Berfes from the 16th century, which is now integrated into a row of buildings, was also rebuilt in this style. Only the Berfes remains of the 14th century Kehner manor. This defensive granary, in which the residents of the farm and the neighbors could hide from attackers, was expanded into a residential building in 1719. The farm was already surrounded by a moat in the Middle Ages and thus we have all the characteristics of a typical Lower Rhine farm complex: residential stable house, Berfes as a defensive and storage tower, barn, all surrounded by a moat.
In 1822, the Krefeld merchant and Mennonite Gerhard Schuhmacher bought part of the community heath and reforested it from the Groß Lind estate with pine trees and some exotic trees. After about 20 years, a contiguous forest area had formed. Even though it has been partially cleared again today, it is still called a forest forest. In 1929, the municipality of Vorst sold this forest forest to Krefeld. Schuhmacher had the landscape architect Maximilian Friedrich Weyhe create a 17,500 square meter park around Groß Lind, which is one of the oldest and rare landscape gardens in our region. In front of the manor house, you can still see some sequoias. The path to the gate is a private path and therefore not actually to be used. Behind the gate, the privacy of the residents should be respected in any case.
