The Schweriner See is located in western Mecklenburg between Schwerin and Hohen Viecheln. Its origins go back to the Ice Age of the Vistula - it is a glacier tongue lake. Its area of 61.54 square kilometers earned it the title of the second largest lake in northern Germany.
