On the southern outskirts of the village of Semenovskoye, not far from the highway connecting the Borodino station and the village of Borodino, at the turn of the road to the villages of Psarevo and Mozhaisk, there are two monuments erected in 1912, to the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino, designed by unknown architects. The closest to the road is a monument to the Life Guards Izmailovsky Regiment. It is a classic obelisk of gray granite, on a white stone base, with a Latin cross on the obverse. To the east of the monument are the gently sloping Semenovskie heights, which on the day of the general battle defended the regiments of the Russian Guards infantry. The losses of the Izmailovsky Life Guards Regiment in the Battle of Borodino were: 176 killed, 528 wounded and 73 missing. In the spring of 1813, during a trip abroad, the regiment was awarded the St. George banners with the inscription: "For the difference in the defeat and expulsion of the enemy from Russia in 1812." In March 1814, the Izmailovites, along with other parts of the Russian army, entered Paris.
