The building dates from 1888 and replaced the old town hall on the same site. It was designed by the Liège architect Paul Demany (1859-1912). It is built in Neo-Renaissance style and is inspired by the Maasland Renaissance. The platform in front of the central entrance is accessible via two curved staircases. Also characteristic are the bay window tower and the longitudinal underpass.
The town hall is a monument, which is part of the list of protected heritage in Thimister-Clermont as part of the cultural heritage in Belgium. It is mainly used as a wedding venue in the 21st century.
