The Kehnaer Trift nature reserve is right on the doorstep. It includes forests, meadows, a quarry and several ponds and wetlands. Amphibians in particular feel at home here and with a little luck you can spot a snake or lizards along the way. A very interesting nature reserve with rare butterflies and amphibians according to the internet. There is a good reason why an electric fence protects large areas of the NSG and thus gives flora and fauna the peace and quiet they need.
