The Hombourg station was inaugurated on October 1895, with the part of line 38 passing through the Land of Herve.
During the Second World War the station was commandeered by Adolf Hitler and became part of the Deutsche Reichsbahn.
The station has not been in use since 1958 and closed its doors in 1962.
After being vacant for almost twenty years, the station and a large part of the track were sold in 1983. The new owner wanted to turn it into a railway museum.
The railway line and some old train equipment have been restored with the idea that the old trains can be driven to the station.
