O South West Coast Path é a trilha nacional mais longa da Grã-Bretanha e explora alguns de seus mais apreciados paisagens costeiras. Estendendo-se por mais de 630 milhas (1.014 km) ao longo da costa de Somerset, Cornualha, Devon e Dorset, a trilha oferece o desafio definitivo para os caminhantes de longa distância.
A variedade é a própria essência do Coast Path. De penhascos rochosos a praias douradas, de aldeias de pescadores remotas a destinos costeiros movimentados, de santuários de vida selvagem a portos idílicos, de terras altas majestosas a habitats marinhos, de formações rochosas épicas a pastagens de cal - verdadeiramente há algo para todos.
Ao longo da trilha, você anda por alguns habitats internacionalmente importantes e vê o único lugar do mundo que exibe 185 milhões de anos de evolução geológica nas falésias e rochas, o Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
Você também vê evidências de milhares de anos de pessoas vivendo, trabalhando e lutando ao longo da costa, enquanto explora alguns dos melhores trilhas de cume de falésia, praias, mares limpos e aldeias de pescadores mais pintorescas que a Grã-Bretanha tem a oferecer.
Nesta Coleção, dividi a rota em 52 etapas de entre 6 e 17 milhas (10 - 27 km), começando em Minehead em Somerset e terminando em South Haven Point, com vista para Poole Harbour em Dorset. Este itinerário é a maneira padrão de completar o South West Coast Path.
Você pode, claro, dividir a rota em tantos dias quanto se sentir confortável, caminhar em seções individuais e completá-la na direção oposta. De fato, devido ao seu comprimento, a grande maioria das pessoas enfrenta seções curtas e completa a rota em um período de tempo estendido. Muitos destes Passeios também fazem excelentes caminhadas de dia.
Em geral, o Caminho é uma caminhada desafiadora. O ascensão total é de 58.000 pés (17.678 m) - o equivalente a subir o Monte Everest duas vezes. Você precisará de boa condição física, resistência e habilidade técnica para enfrentar este desafio.
Por maior parte, você nunca está muito longe da civilização. No entanto, a trilha fica muito remota às vezes à medida que você avança para o leste. Portanto, certifique-se de ter água e lanches suficientes para mantê-lo sustentado. Calçados resistentes e impermeáveis são essenciais. Não esqueça de levar protetor solar, especialmente nos meses de verão. Você pode fazer esta rota a qualquer época do ano e cada estação oferece uma perspectiva única da paisagem.
Os links de transporte público são bastante bons ao longo da trilha. Para chegar ao início, a estação de trem mais próxima é Taunton. Daí, você pode pegar o serviço de ônibus 28 para Minehead. O final da trilha, em Poole, tem bons links de transporte público, incluindo uma estação de trem.
