Amidst the varied natural beauty of the canton of Fribourg, the next body of water is never far away. Hiking provides the key to accessing many of its most idyllic watery landscapes. In this Collection, we present a selection of easygoing hiking Tours that reveal how water has shaped this beautiful region.
You’ll cross the Röstigraben, walk through the largest lakeshore wetland in Switzerland and explore Lake Neuchâtel. On its south-eastern shore is the Grande Cariçaie with its eight nature reserves, a true paradise for active outdoor enthusiasts.
However, it's not just natural beauty that makes the hiking trails so special; the Tours are rich in history and culture. In the charming old lakeside towns of Murten and Estavayer-le-Lac, as well as Fribourg, you’ll discover castles, obelisks and other historical landmarks.
All the Tours are leisurely and the watery theme means that elevation gain is always modest. You can reach the start and end points of each Tour either by car or by public transport.
