The Porta Torre is a tower and city gate in the city of Como.
History:
At the end of the Ten Years' War (1118-1127), Milan demolished the Roman city walls.

After 1154, the city walls were rebuilt and later reinforced with three large towers on the south side. In addition to the Porta Torre, these were the Porta Nuova to the west and the Torre di San Vitale to the east. The Porta Torre is dated to 1192 and was the main entrance to the city of Como.

Medieval gate of the city of Como, built in 1192, Porta Torre is the most visible testimony of the medieval walls. It stands on the south side of the walled city, is 40 meters high and was used as an entrance to the city for those coming from Milan. More closed towards the outside, with two arches, it opens on the inside with a arch and four orders of double arches.
