In the basement of the Gabriels Church (that's what it's called) there is a spring that feeds a well about 150 m away.
The Greek Orthodox Church of St. Gabriel dates from 1767. It is the orthodox variant of the Church of the Annunciation. There is a cave with a spring in the immediate vicinity of the church. The archangel Gabriel is said to have appeared to the Virgin Mary at this source. In this way, the Greek Orthodox Christians worship a place other than the place of proclamation than the Roman Catholic Church. The Greek Orthodox Church refers to a tradition in the proto-gospel of James, an early Christian script from the 2nd century, which was particularly noticed in the Eastern churches. Since the spring at the church is the only source of fresh water in the place, only it can be the one to which the preaching story according to James is based.

It is therefore the 'original patron church' for the title of all Annunciation churches worldwide.
