This church is not simply dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary like many others, but its patronage bears a special significance. Marian churches and chapels are often dedicated to liturgical feasts – for example, her "Immaculate Conception" ("Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary" on December 8th), "Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary" (on September 8th), or "Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary" (on August 15th).
The church in Jardim do Mar, on the other hand, has a prayer for its patronage that was very popular in popular piety in earlier times and is still practiced today in many parishes and even private households (at least among the older generation): the Rosary.
According to ancient tradition, there were three versions that were meditated prayerfully:
