From here, enjoy a magnificent view across the Elbe to the idyllic old town of Lauenburg.
Colorful half-timbered houses, historic steamships, and wonderful panoramic views
over the Elbe await you in the shipping town of Lauenburg/Elbe.
Schleswig-Holstein's southernmost town lies in the border triangle of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, and Schleswig-Holstein.
Located directly on the banks and slopes of the Elbe, historic half-timbered houses line Elbstraße. With its many lovingly restored buildings, the old town of Lauenburg is the largest ensemble of historical monuments in all of Schleswig-Holstein.
A tour of the old cobblestones of the shipping town brings history to life. Numerous small alleys and staircases connect the old town with the upper town.
The castle there, with its castle tower and Prince's Garden, recalls the time
of the Ascanian dukes.
The Elbe River has shaped the town's history. And shipping itself can still be experienced in Lauenburg. Modern passenger ships and historic steamships
invite you to take tours on the Elbe, the Elbe-Lübeck Canal, or the Elbe Lateral Canal.

Near the waterways, the long-distance cycle routes "Elberadweg," "Alte Salzstraße," "Hamburg-Rügen," and the "Iron Curtain Trail" intersect in Lauenburg, offering a wonderful opportunity to explore the surrounding area by bike.
