Seeing the giant container ships shortly before their destination when entering the Port of Hamburg is not only a fascinating spectacle for children. One of the best observation posts for this is on the Rüsch peninsula on Finkenwerder south bank of the Elbe. There they move so close to you that you almost think you can touch them.

On the peninsula is the grounds of the Airbus shipyard.

The nature-oriented area on the shore offers various small rooms with shady and sunny seats, a beach volleyball court and beautiful playgrounds. Here you also have the opportunity to visit the uncovered remains of a submarine bunker system from the Second World War.
