Hard to reach, but not so crowded. Wonderful nature! The lake is naturally cold, but in summer you can already swim.

The lower Gaisalpsee is a high mountain lake at 1508 meters in the Allgäu Alps, northeast below the Rubihorn (1957 m). The 3.5 hectare lake drains over the Gaisalpbach to the Iller.
The lake lies on the hiking trail from Reichenbach to Nebelhorn via the Gaisalpe, Unteren and Oberen Gaisalpsee, Gaisfußsattel, Großer Gund and Edmund-Probst-Haus.

One of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Bavaria that I have been able to explore on my tours so far 💙 Is rarely idyllic in the middle of a high Felsmassov with several surrounding peaks including the Rubihorn! Definitely take a short break, enjoy the view and only then continue hiking😊🏞

Beautiful lake under the Rubihorngipfel. The meadows around invite you to sunbathe. Camping and fire stations is not allowed (nature reserve). Both as a break in the climb and as a refreshment on the descent a great stop.

Great hike: with Nebelhorn lift to Höfatsblick mountain station, then downhill on the 7 above the upper Geissalpsee to lower Geissalpsee. Very nice mountain lake and ideal for a rest. Also suitable for a stop is further down the Geissalpe, but takes a little longer from the lake. Passing Wallrafweg past the ski flying hill, we return to Oberstdorf. Very nice, long tour. Have fun!
