From Hinang - Sonnenkopf - Schnippenkopf - Entschenkopf - Hinang: the first climb towards Sonnenkopf was the steepest and most strenuous part of the tour. It took us a little over an hour to get to Sonnenkopf. It then took another 40 minutes to get to Schnippenkopf. From there you can also see the mighty Entschenkopf. The path is quite narrow and leads through scree and branches. Further up it gets even rockier. I wouldn't recommend the tour without poles. Towards the end we put the poles away and scrambled up in four-wheel drive mode. You really need to be sure-footed and have a head for heights here. Unfortunately you can't see the markings straight away. Once you get to the top, the 360-degree view of the mountains and valleys is very impressive. You can also take a break here, there is enough space. There was not much going on at the summit and in general, we were mostly alone. The way back was quite long. It took us almost exactly 5 hours.

The Entschenkopf is a 2043 m high mountain in the Allgäu Alps. Its south-widening ridge forms the eastern boundary of Gaisalptals.
The Entschenkopf can be reached from the north (from the Falkenjoch) as well as from the south (from the upper Gaisalpsee). Both climbs require sure-footedness and a head for heights.

The trail markers on the north climb were renewed today. I overtook the marker man just before the summit. So he may have renewed the markings on the south side as well. Nevertheless, absolute surefootedness and a head for heights are required for both climbs!

The last part to the Entschenkopf is really not to be underestimated!!
I didn't have any walking sticks with me and that was definitely a mistake. At some point I waited for the next person, who kindly lent me a walking stick. When I got to the top I was really happy, but I wouldn't do the tour alone again.

The way here from the Gaisalpe has easy climbing points, the marking is not always easy to see. The way down to the Gaisalpsee is a beautiful ridge path, partially exposed and insured with ropes.

There was still some snow when I made the tour from Reichenbach over the Falkenjoch at the beginning of June 2021. In particular the steep ascent in the mountain pines was snow-covered but all in all easy to do. If there is snow, I would rather climb from the Falkenjoch, I would not recommend the descent over the snow in the steep terrain there. It was a brilliant tour with a feast for the eyes, the Enzian & Co were growing splendidly at that time. On the descent to the Gaisalpsee there were also wonderful opportunities to "ski down" on the snow in hiking boots, which I would not recommend to everyone (the real ski bunny of course;).

A truly beautiful summit/tour – but only for experienced hikers. We recommend ascending from the north side and descending towards Gaisalpsee.
