We did this hike as a group from the MCSA. Start at the car park near the Oak Café. Take the blue route of the Protea Trail to Disa Gorge. Have a tea break there, under the shade of treas, welcome on a hot day. Cross the wooden bridge, over the stream, then follow the trail to Porcupine Buttress. You'll be leaving the Helderberg Nature Reserve, so the trail gets more technical, with no markings, although there are some cairns. Take the trail up to the West Peak for a lunch break. Pack a light insulated jacket, or light fleece, plus a windbreaker, since it can get cool and breezy at the top. Once at the top, proceed in the direction of False Bay. There will be more that one trail to follow at some stage ( as at the yellow arrows marked up/down), yet they join up later. This is a very enjoyable circular trail, but can be done as a linear hike up to the West Peak, from either side.
