                  The Lietzen Commandery was first mentioned in 1244 in the tithe contract with the Bishop of Lebus, but probably existed as early as 1229. After the dissolution of the Templar Order in 1312, its Lietzen estate was taken over by the Order of St. John in 1318. The last demonstrably resident commanders were Friedrich Albert Albrecht von Schwerin and Friedrich Wilhelm Graf von Schwerin. Since 1993, the commandery has once again belonged to the private family of the von Hardenberg family, who once again manage the commandery and the associated farm. The grounds of the Commandery and the Commandery Church are open to the public.
