"The Royal Saxon triangulation (here with the historical proper name) is a state survey carried out in the years 1862 to 1890 on the territory of the Kingdom of Saxony with the simultaneous creation of a trigonometric network.

The Friedrichstein station on the Alter Söll is really a wonderful representative with fantastic views of the Elstergebirge, Fichtelgebirge and even as far as the Thuringian Forest.
The stations Landwust, Bärenloh and Schöneck could be observed from the column. Comparatively few stations, but this was due to the fact that the more prominent "Schoeneck" station was only a few hundred meters to the north-east (today in the forest on Muldenberger Straße).
