                              Climbing Garden on Rochlitz Mountain
                              The bright red Rochlitz porphyry can officially be used as a climbing garden. In the Seidelbruch, the volcanic rock with its challenging cracks can be climbed in a nature-friendly manner on around 75 routes.

                              They have names like "Dance on the Volcano" and range in difficulty from beginner to advanced. This makes them equally suitable for families and ambitious climbers. Those who make it can sign the summit book on the so-called "Bruchwächter," a roughly 15-meter-high tower.

                                The climbing garden is located on Rochlitzer Berg and is characterized by its reddish-yellow porphyry. It consists of two areas: the Seidelbruch, with easy to moderately difficult routes and a freestanding tower, the Bruchwächter, and the Gleisbergbruch, with moderately difficult routes. Originating from abandoned quarries, it offers a variety of wall climbs and some magnificent crack lines. The rock usually dries quickly after rainfall.

                                The Seidelbruch has large, flat meadows, making the climbing garden very family-friendly. There are also several tourist attractions that make the area attractive, including the porphyry nature trail, observation tower and restaurant, old cranes, and a forest playground.

                                The porphyry is fundamentally quite solid, but the rock surface is a bit crumbly on some routes, so a helmet is recommended.

                                The Saxon Mountaineering Association has leased the rocky areas in Gleisberg and Seidelbruch since mid-2016 and has obtained the necessary nature conservation permits. In the second half of 2016, the SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) KTA (Climbing and Technical Inspection Authority) renovated almost all of the routes in Gleisbergbruch and added redirectors to meet current safety standards. Regarding the renovation of the routes in Gleisbergbruch, an agreement was reached with the first ascent, Mike Jäger, that the challenging nature of the protection on his routes in Gleisbergbruch should be maintained. Since many of the routes are crack climbs, additional protection with mobile camming devices is possible in some places.

                                The use of chalk should be largely avoided. Chalk must be removed from holds and footholds immediately after the ascent.
