          The area is a former sand and gravel pit that has been flooded with water. The raw material mined there is Saale glacial gravel from the Zwickauer Mulde. To do this, they dug at depths of up to 35 meters.

          The former sand pit is mainly used for fishing.
          Camping and open fire are prohibited.

              The former sand and gravel pit Zaßnitz-Biesern is located about 1.5 km south of Rochlitz. Gravel from the Zwickauer Mulde valley dating to the Saale Ice Age was mined there. There are numerous interesting structures along the banks, such as dead wood, water lily fields, weed beds and sandy shallow water areas. It is a great place for fishing, nude bathing and sunbathing.
