This is the home of St. Francis Xavier, one of the earliest companions of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The two had met as students in a home at the Sorbonne in Paris.
The guided tour with an audio guide gives a really good impression of the life of his family and his work as a Jesuit in India, Japan and China.
Next to the castle there is a large educational and retreat center of the Jesuits.

The Castle of Xavier, built in the 10th century, is located on a hill in the town of Xavier. I used this village for my overnight stay on my way to Santiago de Compostela. From my room I had a view over this Castle, something I can recommend.
