Frederik's Church (in Danish: Frederik's Kirken), often also called Marble Church, is located in the immediate vicinity of Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen. With its imposing dome, it shapes the cityscape of Copenhagen. The foundation stone was laid in 1749, but construction was shut down for years due to cost reasons. Frederik's Church was designed by Nicolai Eigtved. In 1749, on the 300th anniversary of the founding of his dynasty by Christian I, King Frederik V laid the foundation stone of the church in a grand ceremony. However, the construction in Norwegian marble requested by the king overstretched the state budget. Frenchman Nicolas-Henri Jardin later presented a revised plan, the implementation of which was not supported by Frederick's successor, Christian VII, causing construction to halt in 1770.
When the N.F.S. Grundtvig campaigned for the preservation and further construction and found an investor, the Danish state sold the ruined building to Carl Frederik Tietgen in 1874 with the aim of completing the church according to the old plans. In return, he received rights to neighboring properties. Tietgen had the church built from Danish sandstone by the architect Ferdinand Meldahl. On August 19, 1894, the consecration could finally take place

The marble church, also called Friederichskirche, is an overwhelming domed structure that was inaugurated in 1894. There is really Copenhagen architectural history in the building because it was so expensive that it was half-finished (marble costs ...). Approx. The church stood around half-finished for 100 years, until the industrialist Tietgen (after one or the other is named in Copenhagen) bought the ruin and finished it. The metro station located here is also something very special: the platforms are separated according to the direction of travel, one above the other on different floors. There wasn't enough space to build a normal train station. But you got so close to the foundation of the church that you could perhaps have made a separate entrance from the underground train station into his church for the pastor ...
