      The Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen covers 41,000 square meters and has over 1,000 rooms, ranging from the Great Hall with seating for 1,400 spectators to the small experimental stage with room for 200.
      The building is clad in southern German yellow Jurassic limestone, and the foyer floor is adorned with Sicilian Perlatino marble. The ceiling in the Great Hall is covered with 105,000 sheets of gold leaf—approximately 1.5 kilograms of 24-carat gold.
      The opera was designed by the world-renowned Danish architect Henning Larsen, and several Danish artists contributed to the decoration. Per Kirkeby created, among other things, four bronze reliefs, while the Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson contributed three large light sculptures in the foyer.

        We strolled past and the opera was open. On the 2nd floor we discover an open door and followed some people inside. It was rehearsing for Aida and we enjoyed rehearsing the first act. Beautiful!🤩🥰
