The home is located on the Kofce mountain on the southern slope of Košuta. The first home in Kofc, which stood a little lower, was built by "Stavbna zadruga Planinski dom na Kofc, which was founded by the Market branch of the SPD; the home was opened on November 20, 1927. In 1941, the occupying authorities handed over the home to the German Mountain Society; the partisans it was burned down in 1944. After the liberation, PD Tržič took over the former private Primožič's cottage and opened it as a mountain outpost in 1948. In 1982 and 1983, the home was renovated and modernized, and some auxiliary rooms were added.

The view is very broad. To the east we see the southern slopes of Košuta, and to the southeast the peaks of the Kamniški Alps; in the south, the view extends from Storžič via Kriška gora to Dobrča, to part of Gorenjska and on the horizon to Snežnik and the peaks in Gorski Kotar; on the western side, Julijci with Triglav are on the horizon, Pokljuka in front, Begunjščica nearby and Stol to the north of it; North of the house rises the 10 km long ridge of Košuta.
