      The Plattachsee is located in front of a mountain backdrop rising to the west (with peaks over 2700 m high) and the 2988 m high Tauernkogel in the southwest in a wide valley at around 2200 m altitude together with smaller lakes and the Langsee. Many of the neighboring mountains and mountain slopes are reflected in the clear water on the smooth surface in an impressive way. The Felberbach flows strongly from the lake down into the valley to the Hintersee.

          This lake is not too big and frankly not as spectacular as I expected. Nevertheless, this place offers nice views. If you're coming from Hintersee, it's definitely worth a walk to the St. Pöltener Hütte.
