The brick factory Borgwedel nature experience area is a former brick factory site directly on the Schlei. The clay deposits from the Ice Age and the favorable traffic situation on the Schlei were good prerequisites for a brickworks. About four million bricks from Borgwedel were shipped on sailing ships and later steamers to Schleswig, Eckernförde, Kiel-Friedrichsort, England and the Baltic region. The nature experience area is accessible all year round.
