A small update on the ferry. The old ferry is currently still running, but this will soon be replaced by a solar ferry. The price of the ferry with a bicycle has increased to 1.50 euros. Still reasonable, in my opinion.

Very regular ferry trips across the Schlei. Nice view of the Missunder ferry house and the small marina in front of it with the corresponding ships.

Cost per bike 1.20 euros. Last trip at 9:55 p.m. So if you're traveling later in the summer, you should take that into account. The alternatives are then either the Lindaunis Bridge or Schleswig. Such a detour is certainly not always welcome at night 😉.

The Missunde grinding ear has been connecting the two sides of Schwansen (Missunde) and fishing (Brodersby) with one another for over 50 years. After 43 years of operation, the original Missunde grinding ear was replaced on December 1, 2003 by today's Missunde II grinding ear. It is very popular with holidaymakers and locals on four and two wheels for a direct crossing of the Schlei. There is a maximum of 45 people per Schleiquerung on the ferry, which glides on a wire rope over the Schlei. It runs all year round on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on weekends between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Only on Christmas Eve is the ferry service restricted until 6 p.m., on New Year's Day it starts at 10 a.m.

It is a real experience to use the ferry, you almost get a little nostalgic when you stand on the shore and it slowly nourishes, a real piece of lived slow time. And: If the ferry is on the other side and doesn't slide across the loop on its own - no problem - a short ring is enough.
