Stephen Avenue is a major pedestrian shopping street in downtown Calgary. It is only open to pedestrians during the day, and motorized traffic is allowed between 18:00 and 6:00 in the morning.
The street is known for Calgary's most exclusive restaurants, cafes and bars. In the street there are several shops, exclusive boutiques and specialty shops. Larger shopping centers such as the Core Shopping Center, Bankers Hall, Fashion Central, Scotia Center and the Hudson's Bay Department Store are located there.
On the street is also Calgary's largest exhibition hall, the Telus Convention Center, to which the two hotels Hyatt Regency Calgary and Calgary Marriott are connected.

The street was named after George Stephen, 1st Baron Mount Stephen, the first president of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Stephen Avenue is home to a variety of historic buildings in the city, which were listed in 1992. Many of the buildings are made of sandstone and were rebuilt after a major fire in 1886 that destroyed almost the entire city
