500 years after the Reformation, the first public crossroads in Saarbrücken were erected in Christkönig at the intersection Petersberger Hof-Birkenstraße. The 2,40 meter high and 1.15 meter wide sandstone cross, designed to a design by Ernst Alt, has the shape of an Irish sun cross. It has twelve shadow recesses, similar to a clock face, on which the hour and season are read according to the incidence of the sun can. At the cross ends the wound marks of a nail impact and blood drops are shown. The most typical feature in the design of Celtic crosses is the encircling circle that connects the crossbars and the vertical bars. Spirituality connects you to sources of strength that reach deeper than what you can see. For me as a Christian, spirituality is a word for encountering the God who revealed himself in Jesus."
