The ridge path can be imagined as a summit cross-section. It goes on well-secured paths and stairs on summit and through gorges. Thus, the ridge path combines a sense of adventure and great panoramic views along the Schrammsteine.

High up on the Schrammsteinen along a narrow path leads you. In part, the steep slope is well secured with a railing. From up there you have the ultimate view of Saxon Switzerland. On the other side of the Elbe, you can see the table mountains and the fortress Königsstein and towards the west the Schrammsteine spread out. Lonely out of the forest rises the mighty Falkenstein. Hopefully, the small bench on the top is clear so you can enjoy the view to the fullest.

The whole thing is simply terrific.
On summer weekends it could be very crowded, so you have to be patient at the narrow spots.
And a head for heights is also required on the descent or ascent of the Schrammsteinen.

Please not with larger dogs, the path is very difficult for dog and owner, especially without a suitable climbing harness. Even sure-footed dogs have a difficult time on the metal bars of the ladders; there are some narrow passages with steep drops. Please think carefully about whether you are confident enough to hold your dog with one hand and yourself with the other. We had to turn back because the path was too difficult for our German Shepherds (even with climbing harnesses).
If you are unsure about heights, you might be afraid here, as there are passages where there is a rock wall on one side and metal railings and a precipice on the other side.

The ridge path is feasible with a dog, if he is used to running such routes. The dog can avoid many stairs / ladders - but he has to master almost as many (up and down) as well. We carried our dog when he became unsafe in two places (he has a corresponding "climbing harness") ... then it went on cheerfully. Even a narrow crevice (the so-called "narrowest part of the ridge path") must be run through - small / slim dogs are clearly in the advantage;)

Please always pay attention to the signals from the dog - it should be fun for all concerned :)
