Located in the northern part of the English Garden, the Hirschau Beer Garden seats around 1,800 people under shady chestnut trees. It's known for its relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, a large playground, and regular live music. Classic Bavarian delicacies and beers from Löwenbräu and Franziskaner are served. The beer garden has a long tradition (since 1840) and is a popular meeting place for Munich residents and visitors alike.

The name “Hirschau” goes back to the former abundance of game in the Isar meadows north of the city and has been recorded on the city maps since 1804. In 1840, a Munich innkeeper opened the “Zum Hasenstall” restaurant here and provided the workers of the “Maffei'schen Maschinenbauanstalt” with food and drinks. Twenty years later it was already mentioned as a tourist destination in a travel guide and is still a popular destination for walkers and day trippers.
