Herten Castle was first mentioned in 1376. After an eventful history, it was completely renovated in the 1970s and is now partly used by the Westphalian Center for Psychiatry Herten.
The castle presents itself to the visitor as a late Gothic brick building surrounded by a large moat. This is followed by the castle ponds, which are particularly impressive due to their diversity of waterfowl. The castle is framed by the meadows and forests of the castle park, which invite you to relax. There is a lot to discover here: the ruins of the old orangery, the tobacco house, the maze or just the rich flora and fauna. The facilities invite you to stroll for several hours.
