From the observation tower on the Bleßberg you have a breathtaking view over the Thuringian Forest, as far as Franconia and the Fichtelgebirge. After the ascent to the observation deck, you can treat yourself to a break in the year-round hiking hostel.

The Blessberg is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful excursion destinations in the vicinity. The 867 m high mountain peak with its observation tower offers a unique view of Franconia, the Rhön and the Thuringian Forest.
The Blessberg can be reached from all directions on well-developed hiking trails. Particularly noteworthy is the historic Grenzweg with its well-preserved boundary stones from 1565. The path can be reached from the parking lot on the B 281 between Saargrund and Siegmundsburg.

The Bleßberg is a 866.9 m above sea level. NHN [1] high mountain in the Thuringian Slate Mountains (Thuringia, Germany). It is located in the district of Hildburghausen and the district of Sonneberg between Sachsenbrunn and Steinheid, about seven kilometers northeast of Eisfeld.
The Bleßberg transmitter, completed in 1976, is located on the Bleßberg; the top of the tower is 1062 m above sea level. NHN (floor height at the tower 866.9 m + 195.1 m tower height) the highest point in Thuringia. On March 30, 2008, the miners encountered the Bleßberg cave while driving in the Bleßberg tunnel on the new Nuremberg – Erfurt railway line.

The nature park information center is located in the middle of the small district of Friedrichshöhe in the municipality of Sachsenbrunn. Near the Rennsteig, it is in a direct ridge position at an altitude of 800 m above sea level. NN.

With the designation of the Thuringian Forest Nature Park in 1990, the extension staff moved in to develop the framework for the new protected area. In the course of this, it made sense to integrate visitor information with appropriate exhibition rooms - the cornerstone for today's furnishings.

Today, the facility is also the seat of the office of the Thuringian Forest Nature Park e.V. instructed to inform about the purpose, tasks and goals of the protected area. The association also supports and bundles relevant offers and projects in the context of environmental education.

The character of the house as a place for teaching and learning will also be taken into account in the future.
