    The Müngsten Bridge is truly an impressive structure. It is 465 meters long and leads at a height of 107 meters over the valley and the bridge park. The Brückenpark is just as worthwhile and offers many opportunities such as hiking, mountain biking, stopping off, relaxing and simply enjoying the beautiful landscape.

      The Müngstener Brücke juts out from a distance between the treetops and bushes. When you stand or lie under it in the bridge park, you only notice how impressive this building from the late 19th century actually is. An ideal place to relax, take a break during a tour or cool off in summer.



      You can also easily spend a whole day here and hike along the banks of the Wupper, e.g. to the transporter ferry. On site, the "Haus Müngsten" offers upscale gastronomy such as multi-course menus, à la carte and brunch. There is also a bistro on site, which is open on weekends in summer. My personal tip: just pack a blanket and picnic basket for a meal in the open air.

        Preparatory work on the construction site began in 1893, and the railway bridge was then completed in 1897 as a steel structure by the MAN Gustavsburg plant. The first drafts for an arch bridge at this point between the two cities go back to 1889. The six scaffolding pillars have a maximum height of 69 m. The central opening of the superstructure, which spans the valley floor, has an average span of 170 m. The total length of the steel structure is 465 m. A total of 5,000 t of steel profiles were used and 950,000 rivets were knocked down.
