"... The Morsbach is a 15 kilometer long brook in the west of Remscheid. On its way it passes among other things the federal motorway 1, forms the city limit to Wuppertal in the lower reaches and flows into the Wupper at Müngsten. Its numerous hammer mills located on it and Schleifkotten are of great importance for the regional industrial history.

Of the 42 brooks that flow into the Wupper in the interior of the large Wupperviereck, the Morsbach is the longest and richest in water. For centuries he drove numerous hammers and grinding bowls. In his best times, he set 40 grinding heads and 42 hammers in motion over a length of nine kilometers (from Clarenbach to Müngsten). With its tributaries, it was the first of the hydropower plants in the Bergisches Land with 176 engines - including 67 grinding heads and 90 hammers. The intensive use was made possible by the steep gradient of 1: 100. Only in this way could the individual plants - lined up closely one behind the other - use the hydropower. ... "

It's a real highlight.

Hiking along the Morsbach is an absolute must for nature lovers. Not only mycologists (mushroom experts), but also animal and plant observers get their money's worth here. There is so much to see from the Muengsten Bridge Park via Sudberg to the Zillertal and Bergisch Nice. Also good connections by bike and horse.

You just have to experience it yourself.

If you are hungry or thirsty, Haus Zillertal with its beautiful beer garden is recommended.
