Former summer residence of the Prince of Bishops of Passau built on the banks of the Danube.
Today a cozy, shady beer garden with a playground for children.
After visiting the beer garden, the boat takes you back to the center.
Monday the beer garden and restaurant are closed.
HISTORY
In 1675, Prince-Bishop Sebastian von Pötting moved the High Prince's Brewery to Hacklberg, which was valued for its spring water.
Prince-Bishop Johann Philipp von Lamberg (1672 - 1712) had the complex expanded monumentally in almost 20 years of construction, making Hacklberg Castle one of the most important summer castles in southern Germany. The orangery, fig, plum and pineapple house, cavalier and servant quarters, fountains and arbor wing were grouped around the main building.

On the occasion of a brewery, I can't resist - now from a purely literary point of view - and I have to briefly mention the humorist Heinz Erhardt (1909 - 1979), who I admire and who was known to a wide audience for his word jokes and "Noch'n poem". quote with one of his – very rare – rhymes:

The brewery Hacklberg is the largest Passauer brewery and one of the leading brewery companies in Lower Bavaria. It dates back to the year 1618 and has been owned by the bishopric of Passau since 1897. The brewery does not announce any official output figures, but in the industry one speaks of 300,000 hectoliters a year.
