The Westerwald-Steig runs under the "Erbacher Brücke" on a very, very narrow path (also called root or stick path by locals) at a dizzying height. Surefootedness is required here. Especially in the bottleneck exactly below the huge arch of the bridge, there can be problems in traffic with hikers or even mountain bikers.
The Erbacher Brücke spans the valley of the Great Nister between the villages of Nistertal-Büdingen and Hardt. The Erbach - Hardt - Marienberg railway used to run over this bridge.
Unfortunately, the Erbacher Brücke was not included in the expansion of the VG Bad Marienberg's cycling and hiking network, so that you cannot drive or hike over this bridge from Bad Marienberg to the bike path on the former railway line to Nistertal-Büdingen and -Erbach .
