The church dedicated to St. Andrew the Apostle until the Reformation was built after 1461 in late Gothic formations as Kreuzkirche, the massive transept being the length of nave and choir. 1572, the church was set in the wake of the Eighty Years War by Spanish troops on fire. It was not until 1709 that the church was completely restored. 1923-25, the transept and the three-sided closed choir were rebuilt. In 1942 German occupying forces laid down the upper floors of the church tower, which received its present form after the war in 1953 (Wikipedia).
